A Modular Kitchen Buying Guide for Siliguri Homes
A modular kitchen is one of the largest single investments you will make in a home, and Siliguri's humid sub-Himalayan climate adds a few twists most online guides skip over. Here are the practical decisions to lock down before you sign a quotation.
1. Carcass Material — Pick BWP
Skip MR-grade plywood for the kitchen carcass entirely. The humidity creeps in even from boiled rice steam over years. BWP plywood (or HDHMR for budget projects) is non-negotiable for the base.
2. Shutter Finish — Acrylic, Membrane or Laminate?
Acrylic looks luxurious but shows fingerprints. Membrane is forgiving but cannot handle direct heat near a tandoor or chimney. Laminate is the all-rounder. Many of our customers mix — acrylic on the upper units, laminate on the base.
3. Hardware — The Hidden Hero
Cheap drawer channels are the #1 reason kitchens look tired in three years. Always insist on soft-close telescopic channels and soft-close hinges from Hettich, Hafele or Ebco. The cost difference is small; the daily-use difference is huge.
4. Counter Depth and Tall Units
Standard 600 mm depth fits most Siliguri flats. Add a tall pull-out near the cooking zone for oils and spices — it is the single most loved feature in every kitchen we deliver.
Drop in with your floor plan (even a rough sketch works) and we will help you spec out the entire kitchen with a transparent line-item quotation.
